This iconic Philco arrived on the bench dull and lifeless. After replacement of all the paper capacitors the 2nd I.F. transformer was found to be riddled with Silver Migration, the condition also known as "Silver Mica Diease". Most common symptoms is static and crackling when the radio is playing. I dissected and rebuilt both of the I.F. transformers with external 100pf mica capacitors. Radio plays strong and cleaned up really nice.
